AVIS Return Form Redesign

Complex Form for Processing a Returned Rental Car

July 2022 | University Assignment | Tablet Design | UX Design | 2 weeks

MOTIVATION

Problem

The AVIS workers who are in charge of processing returned rental cars currently complete the form on paper. Thus, many incomplete forms make it difficult to keep track of fleet inventory and returning customers' behavior.

Objectives

Digitize the paper form in a way that will optimize the car return process whilst keeping it familiar to workers.

DESIGN

Paper Sketches - 1st Iteration

The initial design approach involved crafting a lengthy, single-page vertical scroll, aimed at closely mimicking the familiar paper format utilized by employees in their workflow, thereby mitigating potential implementation challenges associated with transitioning to a digitized form.

Usability Tests - 1st Iteration

After conducting 4 usability tests I saw that all users were struggling with orientation within the form. They were getting confused by the long scroll.

In order to address this problem I decided to use the accordion approach.
